Philadelphia's Badlands Area Has Become A Morgue After 50 People Overdose On Heroin

Heroin is wiping people out at an alarming rate

Some of the purest Heroin has a death grip on several stomping grounds in Philadelphia. On November 17th, 2016 more than 50 people overdosed in the city's "Badlands" section and throughout North Philly. Police are currently waiting on lab results on the hazardous quantity of drugs that nearly killed this large group of people.

No deaths have been reported as of yet, but authorities suggest that number could possible spike if they don't get this drug off the streets.

Are Prescription Drugs Really To Blame?

Heroin is already a dangerous drug, but this batch has cops lurking to get this super drug off the streets, they say this drug can be cut with rat poison and other synthetic opioids like W-18 which can cause Heroin to become 10,000 times more stronger than morphine. The drug overdoses have been on the rise this past year and something must be done quick or we will be reading more headlines just like this one. 

This is a huge issue, people can easily gain high tolerance to painkillers and prescription drugs causing them to go out and seek that ultimate high and that high would be Heroin unfortunately a lot of times, but who is really to blame? The drug dealers? The prescription companies? Doctors? or the addicts themselves? I'm not sure any one of them can be singled out, because it seems this is a puzzle of a mess that needs to be brought under control before the next overdose tsunami happens,.

Septa reaches a 5 year deal just in time for Election Day!

November 7, 2016 Septa's strike has finally came to an end after a week long strike left  people strained and angry. Now that the strike has come to an end and the Septa workers are satisfied with their 5 year deal, the financial and emotional hardships are still left behind for a lot of people in the Philadelphia region. Some people have lost their jobs, missed school assignments, but Septa has sent their gratitude for their riders patience during this strike. 

In Time For Election Day


I was one of the people that felt bad for the people that depend on Septa everyday in order to reach their destination, but I could not be mad at the workers, because the fight was definitely worth it. The workers were gagged out of their prior agreement on pensions, heath care plans and other benefits that were never giving , because they say management cut them out the deals that were made, so the fight was well worth the future of benefits that are owed to those 4,100 plus Septa workers that work extremely hard day in and day out.


The traffic can now get back to its regular scheduled waiting times, because the streets were missing Septa. it was way too much traffic with everyone driving their cars, bikes and crowding the streets racing through. I know, i had to sit hours in the traffic while the strike was going on and I'am glad to say WELCOME BACK SEPTA!!!

30,000 People living with HIV in Philadelphia

Imagine having to take a ton of medicine everyday for the rest of your life, seems unreal to someone who does not know much about that life, but the CDC reports that nearly 30,000 people in the Philadelphia region is living with HIV today and for those people consuming pills like candy daily is a reality. HIV/AIDS has been here for some time now and knowledge of ways to prevent or survive this deadly disease is all around us, but still some people choose to stay ignorant to such valuable information. The more we know, the better we are.

There are a lot of new talk circling the web that researchers are very close to a cure a AIDS and it has been a long time coming, but if a cure is closer than we think do you believe that everyone living with this deadly disease will gain access to this so called new drug? Everything seems to be surrounding money these days, politics say they want to help with better health care options, but somehow money is always the topic with every issue in this country. People need to be constantly reminded how important it is to practice safe sex these days, especially the youth, for they make up a huge part of the percentage of people living with HIV/AIDS and sadly some don't know they have it until it is already too late and transmitted to dozens of other people in most cases. I would think in  this day and age with Google YouTube and the Internet people would stay well informed on these topics, but nobody cares until it has hit their front door. 

AIDS/HIV do exist! People need to know that while it is your right to sleep with whomever you decide, it is also your right to protect yourselves. Scientist continue to work on a cure, but as of right now there is no cure for this disease and everyone living with this disease does not always have to appear sick and the more information you inquire about this growing epidemic, the safer you be. 

GO GET TESTED... it does not have to be a scary thing if you are taking care of yourself and understanding how to stay protected.

Is Septa's strike wrong or right?

What is really going on with Septa? I mean who is responsible for this strike, could it be the overworked Septa employees or is it the greedy union leaders taking advantage of an opportunity to ask for more money? Whomever it is, one thing is for certain, almost the whole city of Philadelphia is feeling the devastation of this strike. People are missing work, children are not making it to school and some that are ill say they rely on Septa for the most part to get them to and from their much needed appointments, but the people seem to think the Septa workers are being unfair and ungrateful in these trying times where a lot of individuals say it's so hard to find a job today. 

I feel the Septa workers pain, imagine working somewhere for 20 years and not really having much to show for it and on top of that the long days and hard work that puts ware and tare on their bodies with limited health coverage, but isn't this life for almost every working American? If we are going to fight, let's fight as one!Why not fight for more companies to have a union so that this unfairness stops for everyone, not just Septa. The people that depend on Septa daily are the ones that will suffer all the way around, they must suffer through the strike only to turn around and suffer more from increasing fares once the strike is over, so I think the Septa employees need to reconsider their compassion with the people who are the reason they even have a job to begin with, the riders.
